I’m Nami Hall, a multidisciplinary artist, director, choreographer, and creative consultant with more than two decades of experience creating work across performance, culture, design, education, and community.

My career has taken me around the world, from Portland to New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Tokyo, Berlin, and Australia, and into projects connected to the London and Sochi Olympic Games, World Expos, the Commonwealth Games, MASS MoCA, Sziget Festival, international touring productions, and large-scale spectacle.

I began in performance, but my work has always extended far beyond the stage. I have directed multidisciplinary teams, developed artists, created immersive experiences, built communities, shaped public identities, and helped ambitious ideas move from something intuitive and difficult to name into something other people can understand and feel.

Over time, that work naturally expanded into consulting.

I have worked closely with founders and executives during moments of growth and reinvention, including helping shape the positioning and public identity of a CCO at a major advertising agency. I have also helped founders clarify their voice, understand their audience, and build a community around what they are creating.

My perspective is deeply informed by movement between cultures and disciplines. I pay close attention to what is spoken and what is not, how people inhabit space, how identity is communicated, and why certain ideas, places, and experiences make us feel something.

As a queer woman of Japanese and Scandinavian lineage, I also care deeply about who gets seen, who gets welcomed, and who gets to imagine themselves at the center of a story. Community building and creating more space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists have been an important part of my work.

I am less interested in imposing a formula than I am in finding the essential thing underneath everything else.

That is the thread connecting all of my work, whether I am directing a performance, shaping a brand, building a community, or helping someone understand what they are actually trying to make.
